  • About Your Teachers...

Ms. Raifsnider and Mrs. Ponder have been teaching kindergarten together since Heartland Elementary School first opened it's doors.  They both live in Radcliff with their families.  Ms. Raifsnider has her bachelor's and master's degree both in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University.

    • About Our Classroom...

The following PowerPoint presentation answers many questions about our classroom.  We share this with families before school starts at our parent information meeting.

    • Mid-year goals...

The following is a brief list of things you can work on at home to make sure your child meets mid-year benchmarks:

      • Count to 50 by ones
      • Identify all upper-case and lower-case letters
      • Recognize, complete, and produce rhymes
      • Blend, segment, and delete syllables
      • Identify numbers to 20
      • End of the year goals...

Many parents and families want to be involved and help their child achieve all they can in school.  Once your child masters mid-year goals, begin to work on the following skills at home.  We will also work on these in class.  This is only a short list of skills we cover in kindergarten.

        • Count to 100 (and beyond) by ones
        • Count to 100 by tens
        • Identify numbers beyond 20
        • Identify all letter sounds
        • Name beginning and ending sounds of words
        • Read 50 sight words on Kindergarten Sight Word List
